* Ingredients :
+To make this Mexican lasagna taco :
+For a 6-inch soft tortilla, you will need approx. 12.
°2 pounds of ground beef.
°Two boxes of taco seasoning.
°2 medium sized tomatoes.
°Large red onion, diced.
°A medium-sized green onion.
°Chopped jalapeno, it’s optional.
°Salt to taste.
°Heavy whipping cream, I used 2 full cups.
°2 tbsp. of soft butter.
°3 divided cups of grated Mexican-style cheese.
°½ teaspoon Cajun seasoning.
+For GARNISH I only used 2 ingredients, but you can be creative and add more to get a colorful dish:
°sour cream.
°Green onion cubes.
And this is how to make it from scratch, all you need is to follow the steps below as directed:
Step 1:
I started the preparation by mixing the red onion, diced green onion, jalapeño pepper, and tomato in a medium mixing bowl and seasoned with salt. I set the bowl aside for later.
Step 2:
Next, I browned the ground beef in a large skillet and drained off the excess fat well, then sprinkled taco seasoning over the meat and mixed well.
Step 3:
Next, I brought the heavy cream and softened butter to a boil in a medium saucepan, whisking constantly until it thickened.
The fourth step:
I removed the skillet from the heat, added 2 cups of grated cheese, seasoned with Cajun seasoning, and kept it warm.
Fifth step:
In this step, I’ve layered: four tortillas, having cut them to fit the bottom of the dish, cooked ground beef, shredded cheese, and tomato mixture in a 9.13-inch casserole.
Sixth step:
And I repeated the layers until three layers were formed, ending with the cheese sauce on top.
Seventh step:
Next, I added the remaining cup of cheese on top of the layers, and placed the covered dish in a 400-degree oven for about 20 minutes.
Eighth step:
Once done, I removed the dish from the oven and let it cool. To serve, I garnished each dish with sour cream and chopped green onions.
Enjoy !
